Clay target Shooting Results

Sport Interview – SSgt David Collins

What inspired you to start the sport?

Shooting is the bread and butter of being in the military however shotgun (clay shooting) is something that like most, I only really experienced as a have-a-go day. It was only when I came to 1 RSME and the OIC for clay shooting was unfilled that I really got the opportunity to start learning properly the different disciplines involved in the sport.

Where has this sport taken you within the Military?

Having only just started I would have thought I would only really have been on a few ranges; however, I have already completed my CPSA shotgun skills modules 1 & 2 courses and attended a training camp in Malta which finished with a friendly competition against the Malta Armed Forces.

What advice would you give someone interested in starting out?

Most clubs hold licenses and club guns to allow non-license holders to shoot on their ranges so there is no need to spend loads of money to start with buying your own shotgun etc.

Tips for shooting.

Training (trying new stuff)

Practice (making perfect)

Competing is the last step.
